FAQ: What vegetables are suitable for a winter garden?

I want to plant a winter vegetable garden. I live in USDA climate zone 9. Any suggestions?

The following should do well without winter protection: Beets, bok choy, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, chives, collards, kale, kohlrabi, leeks, lettuce, onions, parsley, peas, radishes, rutabagas, spinach, swiss chard, turnips.
